Urgent Update and an “AHA!” Moment

The Creative Finance Summit 2025, Cincinnati, OH: Day 1

URGENT! Update your contact info! Multiple people have let me know that they are receiving my emails but I have not responded to theirs. THIS IS NOT NORMAL. I am generally highly responsive. Upon further investigation, their email service is sending to “kris@kfpinvestorsllc.com.” I do not have access to this inbox since my exit from KFP Investors LLC in December 2024. Please update your contact information for me to “hello@krisfleming.net” and 615-234-1236. I can’t wait to hear from you!

GREAT POINT! Vena Jones-Cox, The Real Estate Goddess herself, gave me a tremendous “Aha!” moment this morning. She described that many entrepreneurs discuss that they are promoting their “brand” with their marketing. Vena is adamant that we need to include a call to action in virtually all items at all times. She went on to say, “How many pharmaceutical commercials do you see these days on tv? Even with paid subscription services, many of them are running ads and it seems like most of them are for medication. If you should unfortunately develop one of the conditions that they treat, will you remember the name of the medicine? Do you remember the side effects they tell you to ask your doctor about?”

LIGHT BULB! She is absolutely right. I have remarked numerous times that all of the advertisements on tv these days seem to be for pharmaceuticals. And even though I could probably sing a few of their ear worm jingles, I have no recollection of what they treat or the information they provide about potential side effects.

I have known for years that research indicates that consumers need to be exposed to your brand an average of 7 times before they will consider it as a purchase option. But that’s just the beginning of brand recognition!!! If they don’t need your service or product at the time of exposure, having been exposed to your brand at least 7 times is absolutely zero guarantee that they will remember you if and when they develop a need for your product or service.

KEY TAKEAWAYS:

  1. Always, always, always include a clear call to action in your marketing.

  2. Temper your expectations and remember the 7x rule for brand consideration, above.

  3. Never stop. Never sit back and think, “Okay, everyone I know now knows what I do.” Nope, they probably don’t. Or, at least, they probably won’t remember. So, never stop.
