Ask Me Anything
“Why did you create a separate paid virtual community? Why not just use Facebook?”
I'm so glad you asked! There are many reasons, but I'll try to keep the list to the most impactful.
By creating a private paid community, even if it's just $5, we are dramatically increasing the value of the content and the interactions. No bots here. Scammers are less likely. No ads. No, "hey baby, what's your sign?" DMs. (I actually have had DMs on FB from people posing as my own husband while he and I are sitting next to each other.) Even though it's a very low barrier to entry, it is highly effective.
It's the same thing with events. Like a Carnival cruise, you pay the fee to get onboard and most of the events, food venues, etc. are included. In The Genius Network, we can offer events that are insightful and included, and non-members can join the event for a fee, filtering out those who would not contribute to the value of the event anyway. (I once "sold" 100 tickets to a free event and 8 people showed up. I gave them everything I had, but I am no longer interested in holding free events and I counsel others not to do it either. The book club is the exception because I am going to read the book anyway, so there's no extra preparation.)
Far more value can be provided in The Genius Network than in FB groups. I hope members are taking advantage of that value. There are a TON of resources in the resources tab and it is only going to keep growing. There are also on-demand courses that are included, and there are on-demand courses that are an upcharge, like the steakhouse or premium liquor on the Carnival cruise. Unlike on the cruise, the upcharge is lower in The Genius Network than the cost would be for non-members, as a thank-you for investing in membership.
To continue with the cruise analogy, FB is kind of like the Lido deck. It's pretty loud there, a ton of stuff is going on, there are people everywhere. There's a burger bar, taco bar, tequila bar, and people walking around trying to sell you a cup shaped like a shark for $47. (Like you really need another one of THOSE!) The Genius Network is more like the Serenity deck. It's more exclusive. It prioritizes what YOU NEED. There's a salad bar and it's much better than the one on the Lido deck. (Nourish you rather than shove junk in your face hole.) And no shark-shaped cups. (But this one is orange! The one you got yesterday was blue! It's different!)
Please know that I WELCOME your questions, feedback, requests, observations. The Genius Network does NOT exist so that I can shove in your face what I want you to have. It exists for us to build something together that nourishes and elevates us all. Together.
PS - There is a free “The Genius Network on FB.” It has limited capabilities, and I try to use all of them!
